For MSTS same numbers aren't so important, you have to do tests on track, I did them! Now you have the right traction effort for a continuous power of 960PS at 35km/h....you will never have always the max power!!!

In my eyes, MSTS considers indeed power and the real traction effort AT THE WHEELS, INCLUDING the force necessary to move the heavy loco itself. This differs significantly from data found AT THE COUPLING (Zugkraft am Haken, traction au crochet), measured at the interface BEHIND the tender. Very important on steep slopes ! Usual MAXFORCE in kN should be around 30% of the weight in Tons, if well built, according to experience. Many MSTS-Builders (incl. payware house GermanRailroads) have thus released too weak steam engines, sometimes not even able to get themselves solo over 35 0/00 climbings..... In addition, please verify Numwheels and 'Adheasion' data, as this affects wheel sliding of the locs (Schleudern, Durchdrehen, patinage).
But we can test and argue (Smile!). Thanks anyway, Max, for having submitted your approach !

You have to try! Now you have locomotives and no rockets! Now locomotives are close to real ones.

I checked what you said. You can't put 200kn of MaxForce because you haven't enough Adheasion....and for using MaxForce you need to "discharge" it on wheels! (smile!) About climbings, 35 promille is the limit for a "normal" locomotive...... ;-) I will send you newest files so you can check new (little) modifications.... EDIT : you have enough 'Adheasion', if you use correct NumWheels (4, FOUR driving axle pairs, or even less, not 8 ) and adhesion values... Managed to get a 241R right up the Arlberg with a heavy load... Old MSTS is buggy, everybody knew... Edit by OldieDaddy 02.06.2008 18:35

I don't agree with you....I sent you new files, I suggest you to not open that but TRY that (smile!). I tryed that and there is more adhesion (with the right number of WHEELS). ... EDIT : Datei erneuert / File updated...Edit by OldieDaddy 02.06.2008 19:26

MaxForce is still low. Rather 200-250kN ?Edit by OldieDaddy 02.06.2008 00:50
